  • Skyborne Airline Academy are recruiting for a Licenced Aircraft Engineer to join the Maintenance department at our Gloucestershire base. The Licenced Aircraft Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring all Diamond DA42 Aircrafts are maintained in the safest, most efficient and fully compliant manner.
     
     Due to the expansion of the department, this new and exciting role will involve the use of a highly developed skill set to maintain the aircraft in the fleet providing exceptional service standards reflecting the Skyborne ethos. A dynamic and progressive role, the v will be adaptable and positive in an evolving Maintenance Department. 
     
     There may be a requirement to travel to our Bournemouth base or any location where Skyborne aircrafts may be displaced. You will have access to our fleet vehicle for situations such as this.  
     
     Responsibilities
    • Carry out scheduled maintenance on fleet aircraft.
    • Conduct defect identification and rectification plus AOG support as required.
    • Overseeing and certifying maintenance carried out by Fleet Support Technicians.
    • Ensuring Health & Safety and regulatory standards are met within the maintenance environment at all times.
    • Support the operational flying programme in carrying out works in line with fleet maintenance schedule to ensure minimal aircraft down time.
    • Support the compliance with regulatory responsibilities of UKCAA as per the approved Exposition.
    • Ensure the maintenance quality is accomplished to the highest standards of airworthiness considering principles of human factors.
    • Produce accurate maintenance records for work carried out.
    • Support of ongoing hangar cleanliness and organisation to ensure safe and effective working environment.
    • Support the operation with aircraft handling and stand placement, refuelling and aircraft valet and detailing.
     
    Qualifications
    • Hold a valid UK CAA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence with one of the following; either a Category B1.2 with a full Group 3 rating and no limitation excluding composite-structure aeroplanes OR a Category B3, endorsed for piston-engine, non-pressurised aeroplanes of 2,000 kg MTOM and below, with no limitation excluding composite-structure aeroplanes (essential). 
    • Or alternatively, be within six months of meeting the knowledge and practical-experience requirements for one of the above licence categories (essential). 
    • Practical maintenance experience on Diamond DA42 aircraft or comparable twin-engine, piston-powered, composite aeroplanes.
    • Completed DA42 aircraft, engine and systems training, or demonstrate equivalent documented knowledge and experience. Applicants without DA42-specific training must be willing to complete the required familiarisation, differences or competency training.
    • Demonstrate competence in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, defect diagnosis, troubleshooting, component replacement and operational testing.
    • Have extensive experience using and interpreting approved maintenance data, including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogues, Wiring Diagram Manuals, Structural Repair Manuals maintenance programmes and work instructions; and Component maintenance documentation.
    • Understand the assessment and application of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, mandatory requirements and other continuing-airworthiness information.
    • Be adaptable and willing to respond positively to changes in aircraft availability, maintenance priorities, technical information and operational requirements.
    • Demonstrate sound technical judgement and recognise when defects, maintenance findings or technical decisions require escalation.
